Hello, we just left the Philippines the other day. My wife & I have a home on Biliran Island.
I was wondering if you could help me out with some information. I want to buy a sit on top kayak for use at my home on Biliran. Do you think the new mall will have a sporting goods department.
Do you know of a place in Tacloban that I could buy one when we come back next year. Thanks for your help in advance. They have them in Manila but they won't ship to Biliran.
Steve Duling.
Hi Steve,
I hope you and your wife had a nice vacation. As for your request: I had to ask a friend, but he don't think that we have kayaks for sale here in Tacloban. You may have to go to Cebu or Manila to buy those.
For sports equipments in Tacloban City you can go to Cua's along Avenida Veterano St. or Leyte Sports Emporium along Salazar St.
But as far as I know they offer Kayaking at the JASMIN BEACH RESORT in Marabut, Samar. Maybe you could ask them from where they've got their kayaks.
You can contact them over Tel. 0063.53.276.5232 or through email: jasminbeach@yahoo.com
Warm regards,
Christian Schmidt

I have a suggested category for your web site. I find it nearly impossible to find out about upcoming events in the Tacloban City area. Example would be the convention center events, school sports, festivals etc.
The standard WWWWW (Who, What, Why, When and Where). An upcoming events section I believe would be very beneficial to your readers and the activities you include.
Also, your site is great. I review it nearly everyday to catch the news.
Thanks,
Ken.
Hi Ken,
glad to hear that you like our website. We put a lot of effort in updating the Tacloban News Section almost daily and we only add the news that really matter or that might be of interest about the Tacloban region.
About your suggested 'Upcoming Events'-section: We had that before here at TaclobanHotels.com, but due to lack of events we removed it from our website.
Instead we moved it to our forum, so that everyone can update new Tacloban Events. You can find it HERE ..
Well so much for the theory, because at the end we're still the one updating the Tacloban Events that we know of ..
So if anyone knows of any upcoming Tacloban Events, please go to TaclobanCityForum.com, click 'Tacloban City Current Events' in the Tacloban Specific section and kindly share it with others.
With kind regards,
Arlene Schmidt

Is thier a free chicks in hotel? How can i have a chicks?
Hi Noli,
some hotels also have chicken on their menu. But I recommend Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC has the best crispy chicken in Tacloban City. Jollibee offers a quite good chicken, too.

Regarding the Tacloban City News "Leyteños cap Earth Hour with party, concert" from Mar 29,2009: It was Jonathan Calvara, President of JCI Candahug Liberation, Inc who which organized the walk in the boulevard, not Jonathan Calvario as stated in the news.
Please do make the erratum asap, it's quite demoralizing on the part of those who worked for the cause and ended up not having the credit.
Thanks po.
Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for the correction.

I am planning to arrange a recreational activity for my old friends, probably more on sightseeing and food trip. Luckily I already find the perfect place, I am thinking of bringing them to Rafael Farm.
It so happen that I only have a very little knowledge about the place making it difficult for me to have the perfect budget for the entire event. I want to know the different kinds of food and drinks that they offer and their corresponding prices.
sincerely,
Elaine
Hi Elaine,
I tried to forward your Inquiry to Rafael Farms. But their website is offline at the moment and can not be contacted by email.
But I was able contact them via phone and they promised to call me back later.
But if you want to call the Rafael Farm yourself, then you can use the following number:

Normaly they can be contacted also through email at: inquiry@rafaelfarm.com

I plan a trip to Tacloban from April 15 to May 15. I'm looking for a room with or without aircon and a double bed and also a place to cook (don't want to go to restaurant everyday).
Do you have something to suggest me and prices too. I don't want to spend to much.
Thank you very much!
Mike
Hi Mike,
Are you staying here for work or just a vacation? If I'm to guess I would say that you're coming to Tacloban for a voluntary work or you have a girl here that you want to meet.
So, if you don't want to spend too much money, then you might want to give RON AND FIRE'S GUESTHOUSE a chance. It's an airconditioned Guesthouse with six dormbeds. A kitchen and laundry area is also provided for the guests. All for a very affordable price of P300.00 per night.
Also a good and safe place to stay and at the same time still very affordable is the ROSVENIL PENSIONE located at Burgos Street in the heart of Tacloban. Prices here for a matrimonial (double) bed start at P520.00 per night. This Pensione offers an excellent quiet retreat with a homey ambiance.
If you decide to rather stay in a hotel, prices for good rooms in respectable hotels start at about P900.00 to P1000.00 per night. You won't have a kitchen there but for this price you can expect a refridgerator in your room. And room-service is quick and not too expensive.
If you decide to go for the third option then the HOTEL ALEJANDRO might be a good choise. It's a much recommended hotel in Tacloban, just read the Hotel Reviews here at TaclobanHotels.com. While I myself still recommend ASIA STARS, it's a good hotel in the heart of tacloban and near to everything, with a friendly and efficient staff.
However, we have a lot of beautiful places to visit here in Tacloban. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. And don't worry too much, people here are friendly and accomodating.
With kind regards,
Arlene Schmidt

Thank you for building this site, it updates me of what's happening and what's new in Tacloban. It's also helpful in looking for hotels and restaurant. Well done!!
I would like to suggest if you can have a chatroom here just for taclobanos .. that would really give us (people overseas) more happy and get connected to anybody from there.
Thanks a lot & More Power!
Keep it up!!
Hi Cheeky,
thanks, we're glad that you like our website.
About the chatroom for taclobanons, that's a good idea, we might add a tacloban chat to our website in the next future.

Are there any rental vans that are available for rent by the day or week? When I travel to the Philippines, and will travel to Leyte but southern city of Leyte. I would like to have a driver for a week on Leyte island.
Thank you.
Regards,
Rosario Robinson
Hello Rosario,
you should try to contact one of this shuttle services on this page here: RENT A CAR
Their prices range from about PHP250.00 to PHP 375.00 per hour, but maybe you can rent a car for a week, too. All rates are including driver and gasoline.
Our featured shuttle service DUPTOURS SHUTTLE SERVICES is trusted by many travellers and has a good reputation. It's a family owned business and one of the biggest rental firms in Region 8 today.

We have stayed at the Asia Stars Hotel for over ten years now. They have always treated us very well there. The rooms we have stayed in have been clean with lots of room. The A/C has always work well.
The food in the Stars cafe is very good. It's located in a good place. Now there's even a mister donut near buy. I have always recommended this hotel to any body that comes to Tacloban. We are planning on coming back to the Philippines next March and I will call the Hotel to make a reservation.
PS. We can't wait till the new Mall is finnished. I hope it's done by next March. Can you give me any up dates on the that.
Thanks

Hi Monica, hi Steve,
thank you for your hotel-recommendation, it has been added to our Hotel Reviews on TaclobanHotels.com.
You can find it here: REVIEWS ASIA STARS HOTEL
I can only agree to your recommendation, the Asia Stars Hotel in Tacloban is a very good hotel with a friendly and efficient staff. I have stayed there several times and never had any complaints.
As for your request about the new malls in Tacloban, we have added some updated informations and pictures to TaclobanHotels.com.
You can find it here: NEW ROBINSONS AND GAISANO MALLS IN TACLBAN CITY
As far as we know both malls are supposed to open their gates within this year, even some people doubt that they can make it in time. But let's just keep optimistic and hope that we can already go for shopping at the new malls on our next visit to Tacloban.
Warm regards,

I am the owner of a modest pension house in tacloban city and i am most interested on how my establishment can be published or shown in your website.
thanks.
Hi Mario,
to add your pension house to TaclobanHotels.com first we need more specific information about your property.
As long as you can provide us enough information, we'll create a listing for your property on our website.
The more information you can give us, the easier it will be to write a good review of your property.
It's always a good idea to add some pictures because this is what costumers want to see. The more our visitors like what they see, the bigger the chance that they will give your pension a try.
Here's a link to our Hotel Submission Form, just complete the form and send it to us. Of course you can also add additional information not mentioned in our form.
goto: HOTEL-SUBMISSION-FORM
I hope I was able to help you, if you still have questions or problems, please contact us.

Nice place to go for business, but the problem is you got the most corrupt city administrator in all the cities in the phils, I travel to many cities in the phils for business it's only in Tacloban City you will meet a very corrupt young administrator, tsk tsk tsk what a disgrace to the taclobanons.
EDITORIAL NOTE: Mr. Yaokasin was city administrator during the time of Mayor Bejo Romualdez, and continued when Bejo's son, Alfred, was elected mayor. Alas, he was sacked by Mayor Alfred Romualdez over alleged anomalies and is now with the Petillas.

I will be in Tacloban and Babatgnon in the end of April.
I need room in Babatgnon. Do Rafael Farm also have rooms?
hi Poul,
I'm sorry but as far as I know Rafael's Farm is not offering any accommodations.
It's just a restaurant with a very beautiful landscape and sure worth a visit.
The address is:
Brgy. Pagsulhugon
Babatngon Babatngon, Leyte Province
Philippines
Rafael Farm can be contacted either by phone or email:
phone: 053.325.0729 or from abroad 0063.53.325.0729
email: inquiry@rafaelfarm.com
(For further information on the Rafael Farm and Restaurant please click HERE, you can find the complete contact information, some nice pictures and more background information there.)
Rafael's Farm/Babatngon is about 30 minutes from Tacloban City.
If you can't find a place to stay in Babatngon you can choose a hotel in Tacloban.
HOTEL ALEJANDRO is a much recommended hotel in Tacloban.
You can also try ASIA STARS, it's a good hotel in the heart of tacloban and near to everything with a friendly and efficient staff.
Before you schedule your vacation you should have a look at our hotel HOTEL REVIEWS,
written by Tacloban-travellers like you.
If you would choose to stay in a Tacloban Hotel,
or find a nice restaurant in Tacloban,
it would be nice if you would return the favor and write a hotel review or a restaurant review on our site,
or a tacloban travel guide with recommendations and places to go
or whatever you would like to share with other travellers
(for example about your visit to Rafael's Farm!).
I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Tacloban and Babatngon.
happy travels,

Good site!
Make Tacloban clean, meaning, walng basura sa mga kalye na nagkakalat, o mga aso, pedicabs across Zaragoza Street, should be transferred to Zaragoza (near Cyber Quest), because, Zaragoza Street is wider than Independencia Street, that, the pedestrian lane is no longer available for the pedestrians to pass by and the Magallanes Street is narrow for any big public vehicles and how speedy the drivers are, and the safety of the many people going to the `merkadohay' as they walk to the place, is really dangerous.
Retain the traffic lights on at all times and ensure that all drivers to follow what is "red light" when traffic lights on "red" and following this procedure, will lessen accidents, besides, most roads are only on two - way opposite street.
With the so many big buildings, as in, malls being built now, and other stores and new government offices in the city and nearby areas, that's wonderful news. It would be nice to have the domestic airport expanded to International Airport, and yes, to retain the old lengganay of DWU, just paint it in fresh paint. New cabinets are needed in the City Treasurer's Office.
Though, it is not easy to acknowledge in the truth i share, who travel with me, have been giving me messages. Worldwide is still on AL NINO weather forecast. What was the "rain water" like when Typhoon Seniang and Typhoon Lando, hit many areas. I was told to tell the priests in Tacloban to have procession mass in early year of 2006 and for the priests to have a prayer petition, that the city will not be hit by a worst typhoon. The best in 2008 to the City of Tacloban and nearby areas.
As you read this comment page, you are going to ask, who is this that the cabinets have been included, i just happen to have a guide. Who is Jesus to the Father? You will find the true blessed face of Jesus in Redemptorist Church, 1962 crucifix. If the blessed crucifix has been donated to another new built church, then, go to the back, you'll find a Shrine of Jesus, only that it is bigger built. The 1962 blessed crucifix was His true blessed face.
I hope that you can accept this true fact that Jesus, has already descended Earth on His Second Coming. It was said that the Son of Man will come just like in the events of Noah, floods. The manholes in the city should be fixed, so that when it rains so hard, that the street roads will not flood. To all, a Happy New Year.
