HOW I MET MY WIFE
I met my wife Arlene back in
April 20th 2001 in Tacloban City, Leyte.
This was not my first visit to the Philippines.
I had visited the country of my mother several times already. That special day I wanted to enjoy and have some fun and so I went out with some of my cousins and friends.
A PLACE COLD KARRY
There wasn't many places to go that time. Someone told me of a place cold 'Karry', a place where they used to play good life music that time and so we went there with my cousin Brian and a friend.
A GIRL STRUCK MY EYES
After a while a girl who was working there struck my eyes. I didn't show her immediately that I was attracted to her. After some drinks and several hours later we went home and I couldn't get this girl out of my mind.
Next day we decided to go there again. Fortunately she happened to be there again.
DINNER NEXT DAY
I took all my courage and approached her. After having a long conversation with her (her english was surprisingly good) and playing some billiards with her (and letting her win of course) I decided to invite her for dinner the next day.
Surprised by my stepping forward she willingly accepted to meet me the next day at the same place.
So the next day I was there in time and waiting for her. I waited one hour, two hours, then I started worrying .. she let me wait for three hours until she appeared .. more beautiful than ever .. !!
OUR FIRST DATE
One of our first dates was at the old Shakey's in Tacloban, later we had a wonderful dinner at the floating Restaurant in Leyte Park. That was also the place where I first happened to kiss her.
Of course we both felt very sad when I had to go back to Germany. She was still very young and had to finish her studies first ..
A BABY IS COMING
And so, many many long phonecalls later - I was only able to visit her once a year for three weeks - we finally married at October 20th 2007 at the Palo Cathedral with more than 200 guests and with her whole family.
In July 2008 after finishing her studies she came here to me to Germany. We are now living here together in Bavaria/Southern Germany and she's studying the german language.
Now we're writing the year 2009 and in July we're expecting our first child. We're both very happy and we're planing to have our next vacation in 2010 together with our son who will be about one year old then.
